Best european baby formula

What’s the best European baby formula?

March 04, 2019

That’s an excellent question. It's been talked about by lots of parents, researched and debated, so what’s the answer? And why is European baby formula better than formula made in other parts of the world? Is it really better than American formula?

Well, we certainly think so! It's what we've dedicated ourselves to, it's what we used for our scrumptious babies, and it's what lots of parents agree on. And we haven’t done this blindly. We did so much research on who and where were the best producers of organic baby formula. Who were the world leaders? Who really cared about the purity and health benefits of their products and sourced it from sustainable and bio farmed resources?

Europe, in particular, Germany, are world leaders when it comes to organic baby formula produced on biodynamic farms. The Germans were leagues ahead and the rest of the world has had to try to play catch up.

The Holle brand started in 1933 and is a market leader, with Demeter standards and bio-farming. This means not only do they use natural ingredients, but also the grass and food the animals eat are pesticide and chemical free, the animals are given space to roam and provided with shelter. They are not dehorned nor are they treated with chemicals. They are a wonderful example and they set a real benchmark for the rest of the world to catch up to.

And the rest of the world is catching up.. if we don't consider the terrible Chinese milk scandal of 2018 where melamine was added to baby formulas. That was a terrible disaster and a huge scare for affected parents. Let’s not create a non-regulated environment where that could happen again, please.

America is making huge process on the heels of German baby formula but the EU guidelines remain stricter and more beneficial to healthy formula than those of the FDA. For example, the EU does not allow fructose, carrageenan, glucose, corn syrup, rice syrup or any artificial sweeteners in organic baby formula and instead, great European producers like Lebenswert use lactose as a natural sweetener which is also an excellent source of carbohydrates. Lactose is responsible for the naturally occurring sweetness in mom’s breastmilk.

Holle has continued to develop since its inception 86 years ago. They now have a pre-stage formula so you can feel confident making the switch to formula from birth if you need to.

We also really love the HiPP formulas. They're another great European baby formula company that started 1956. That’s a great, rich, long history in the baby formula market.

As with all of the formulas we offer on our shop, HiPP formulas exclude all GMO ingredients, antibiotics, hormones or artificial and synthetic ingredients. HiPP baby formulas are wheat, gluten and peanut free, without added sugars like corn syrup, rice syrup, glucose syrup, fructose and table sugar.

HiPP carries a collection specially designed for babies with Reflux, Colics and a Hypoallergenic one.

There's just so many benefits we think it makes your decision a lot easier.

So if you are wondering what is best for your baby, we recommend reading some of the customer testimonials on our website. You might want to consult with your doctor if your baby has any medical or health conditions. And joining parent chat groups to see what other people think is often helpful in making a decision and sharing your experiences.

We hope you are your baby will be as happy with this great organic baby formula as we have been.
